Winn the Fight

Winn the Fight was founded by family and friends of Karl Winn, who lost a courageous battle with cancer in September 2007.  Through a partnership with Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center (GHS), the first goal is to fund a tissue bank in Greenville at the Clinical Research Unit. You can read more about Winn the Fight's mission here, and you can help fund the tissue bank by participating in one of the events below!

BBQ & Silent Auction

Treat your family to a BBQ lunch that benefits cancer research! The third annual Winn the Fight BBQ & Silent Auction brings lunch and live music to Advent United Methodist Church in Simpsonville from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 28. Adult tickets are $10 each, and children's tickets are $5. All proceeds help fund the Greenville Hospital System University Medical System (GHS) Winn the Fight Tissue Bank for cancer research.

Plans are being made now for the 2010 Silent Auction Preview Party! Join in the fun and enjoy great food, drinks, silent auction items and friends by becoming a Host or a Sponsor. Hosts - folks who donate $100 - receive their name on the event invitation (if donation received by Aug. 1), their name on signage at the BBQ, two tickets to the Preview Party and two tickets to the BBQ. Sponsors - folks who donate $500 or more - receive all of the above benefits, as well as additional event perks.

Area businesses can also partner with Winn the Fight through an in-kind sponsorship of a silent auction item or food donation. Sponsors will receive prominent recognition through online and on-site promotional materials, as well as two tickets to the BBQ.

Dragon Boat Upstate Festival

Winn the Fight is an organizing team for the 2011 Dragon Boat Upstate Festival at Lake Hartwell.

The Dragon Boat Upstate Festival is a Saturday celebration dedicated to fundraising for the Cancer Center of Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center (GHS) and other local cancer non-profit organizations through the racing of beautiful Dragon Boats, with teams from area churches, businesses, civic groups, neighborhoods and other organizations.

The Dragon Boat Upstate Festival, now in its fifth year, raises thousands of dollars and hosts more than 1,500 visitors and team members. Paddlers, volunteers and supporters enjoy a day at the lake while supporting cancer research and other cancer services in the Upstate.
